Handmade in Raleigh is Growing

You might have noticed a new feature I started on my blog called “Handmade in Raleigh.” I want to celebrate this town we have made home and start to debunk some of the, well, gunk that people think of our fair city. It seems that every time we travel out of state and tell people where we’re from, they give us a look of pity and say, “Oh, I’m so sorry.” Grr… Admittedly, our state politics make us the butt of many jokes. Our gun loopholes boost us to international shame. We have work to do for sure. Yet there are many things that make our community rich. We enjoy a creative spirit that is enhanced by legions of artists, writers, chefs, musicians, designers, architects, and more. Raleigh’s small town sensibilities coupled with big city trappings make this a hub for all things creative. I marvel everyday at the people and stories I encounter and want to share them with you.

My friend Lisa Frame in Charlotte is joining me on this journey. She’s going to celebrate similar tales from Charlotte and the western part of our state.

Together, we bring to you Handmade in North Carolina.

Do you have a business, restaurant, talent, idea, or enterprise you want me to feature? Let me know!
