It’s ironic to be writing about healthy essentials while I’m laid up in bed. I’m knocked out with a cold, exacerabted by the stress of moving into our renovated home (an arduous nine month process for this historic renovation). I am generally quite healthy. I don’t make a new year’s resolution to be healthy; it’s just part of my everyday life. Sure, there are indulgences. What fun is a life of deprivation, right?
My family focuses on being healthy as a lifestyle. It’s important to view healthy living this way so there are no perceptions of sacrifice. Too often “healthy” connotes something negative. It’s the sort of thing that makes kids’ faces squinch into knots and makes adults groan. Being healthy and having fun are not mutually exclusive.
