Giving Tuesday is Full of Grace

Ilinap · December 2, 2014 ·

I was born on a Tuesday. The old rhyme says that “Tuesday’s child is full of grace.” Hmmm…the jury is out on how that relates to yours truly.

Today is Giving Tuesday, a worldwide movement to underscore the grace in giving. Surely the jury unanimously agrees on this.

Here are the organizations I support today and everyday, through my financial contributions, my time, my voice.

Cecilia Rawlins Fund – This organically grown little group of moms have organized to start a 501c3 to help feed kids at our school. $10 provides food for one weekend. $350 provides weekend food through Backpack Buddies for the whole school year. To donate, send a check to 1022 W. South St., Raleigh, NC 27603.

SAFEchild – Help prevent child abuse. This is Wake County’s only organization dedicated to preventing child abuse. Proven methods, coupled with hearty nurturing, can break the cycle of abuse.

Central and Eastern North Carolina Food Bank – Through the Holiday Meals Drive your dollar can really make a difference. One dollar = 5 meals. This is a great springboard to get kids involved. Just help them reach their piggy bank off the shelf.

Shot@Life – $25 vaccinates a child for life. Help give children in developing countries a shot at growing up healthy. I’m home sick today (just a cold), yet there’s nothing I cherish more than my health and access to healthcare.

Join me in making Giving Tuesday a way of life. Every day should be full of grace.
