Teachers, we want to hear your voices.

Ilinap · May 27, 2014 ·

Those who can, TEACH. Those who can’t, didn’t pay attention in class.

Wake County teachers, our county commissioners need to hear from you. Please send an email sharing some snippets of your day. Tell these people, many of whom have nary stepped into a classroom since a campaign photo opp, what your day is like. Tell them your struggles, woes, joys, and concerns. Be candid about your financial struggles and share an anecdote about how you’ve left an indelible imprint on a student. Your voices have been woefully missing from the conversation. I urge you to write something from the heart. Share this message with every teacher you know. You have the right, the duty, and the honor to advocate for yourselves.

Send emails and letters to ALL county commissioners. Here are our elected holders of the county pursestrings:

Joe Bryan – joe.bryan@wakegov.com

Phil Matthews – phil.matthews@wakegov.com

Rich Gianni – rich.gianni@wakegov.com

Caroline Sullivan – caroline.sullivan@wakegov.com

James West – james.west@wakegov.com

Betty Lou Ward – bward@wakegov.com

Paul Coble –  paul.coble@wakegov.com

There is an upcoming county commissioner meeting on Monday, June 2 at 2:00 in the Justice Center Board Room 2700. There is a budget public hearing Monday, June 2 at 7:00 in the Commons Building, 4011 Carya Drive, Raleigh.

Let’s school this state on what it means to be a teacher!
