Help the Green Chair Project!

Ilinap · June 14, 2013 ·

I got the following message from a friend today. The Green Chair Project in Raleigh, NC is in need of furniture donations. This organization has been instrumental in helping families who transition out of homelessness. The small group of parents at my sons’ school who work with families in crisis has seen the good work of The Green Chair Project firsthand. We saw families go from homelessness to homey in no time. The work of The Chair Project preserves the dignity of these families in crisis and values their need to create a home of warmth, comfort, and security, all things lacking during their time of homelessness. Aren’t those things we all want for our families?

Read the note below and donate. There’s no better time to clean out furnishings and household items to give to a good cause! Scratch that. A GREAT cause!

Please share with your congregations that we are in desperate need of furniture donations!  Couches, Dressers, Tables & Chairs, Microwaves….are all items that EVERY family we serve is in need of.  We have helped a record number of families in the past few weeks recovering from fires, crisis, homelessness and starting new lives with the support and comfort a furnished home provides.  Please consider sharing your gently-used extra household items and furnishings with the Green Chair so that we can serve the many families in need in the coming weeks.  We will be accepting donations THIS Saturday, June 16, from 10-1 at 1853 Capital Blvd.

Thanks so much for the encouragement and support you and your churches provide the Green Chair – we sure appreciate your help in getting the word out as soon as possible!

Took a dresser and an upholstered rocking chair this morning — thanks for the nudge. Was hard to let go of furniture that was in my nursery as a child and then in my children’s nurseries, so it helped to think of new babies and new families continuing to enjoy them.
