Cozy Up With a Cardigan (or two) – 5:00 Fridays

Today’s 5:00 Fridays is brought to you by my friend Michele. We were thrilled to find a compadre blogger on the local scene. We actually met in real life in the kindergarten classroom. Let me be clear, it was in our children’s kindergarten classroom. Michele is a style maven, but not the kind who makes you feel frumpy for wearing yoga pants and your husband’s T-shirt in the school pick up line. She always looks great in that casual I-just-threw-this-on kind of way that makes women like me hate the French and Italians who also look so effortlessly chic.

Now, a word from Michele:

When there’s a chill in the air, wrapping yourself up in a cardigan is a great way to get cozy and warm. This season cardigans abound and can be found in just about every shape, size, and color. Is your style classic? Try a traditional button front cardigan in a bold hue for an unexpected twist. Add a belt for a little waist definition and to give your outfit a focal point. Looking for a cardigan that can hide a few pounds? Opt for a body skimming sweater that covers those bumps and bulges while giving you the coverage you need.

Whatever style cardigan you choose to wear, you can always add another layer of warmth by sipping on the sweater’s namesake. The Cardigan cocktail from Zely & Ritz is akin to slipping on a warm, fuzzy sweater, hence the name. Enjoy a girls’ night out with a few of these decadent drinks and you may very well find yourself singing the praises of the cardigan. Who knew they could go down so smoothly?

To make one of your very own, here is my interpretation of the Cardigan Cocktail.

In a shaker filled with ice combine:
2 oz. Catdaddy Carolina Moonshine
1 ½ oz. apple cider, sparkling or still
½ oz. pumpkin puree
dash of maple syrup
Splash of sour mix

Shake well and strain into a martini glass rimmed with a mixture of pumpkin pie spiceand sugar. Then sit back and enjoy the warmth!

Wow, I don’t know if I can manage the drink, but just bought a body-skimming cardigan and love it. Thanks for the casual style tips…I can always use them and may actually heed them.

Glad to hear you’ve added a great cardigan to your wardrobe this season, Amy! They are such great ways to add a layer of warmth to your outfit while boosting your style quotient at the same time!
